In his sermon on June 18, Pastor Chris referenced On Juneteenth, a book by Annette Gordon-Reed - a “raised in Conroe” professor, author, and historian. The book pulls together history, politics, and personal memories into several informed essays reflecting on the history of Juneteenth and “urges Texans and all Americans to reflect critically on this tangled history.”
We invite adults to join us in reading and discussing this book each evening during VBS. Please email OfficeMail@TreeChurch.netif you plan to attend. We have purchased several copies of the book for use during the class; let Jill know when you email if you need one! If you prefer to purchase your own, it is available on Amazon in hardback and Kindle formats. Used books may also be available.
Vacation Bible School is coming to Tree of Life the week of July 10-14! The theme this year is “Stellar” and it’s going to be AWESOME! We’ll start with a light dinner at 5:00 pm, with the VBS program running from 5:30 to 8:30 each evening. So that we can be best prepared, we ask that families register each child that will attend VBS by the end of the day Sunday, June 25.
And of course: a successful VBS requires a lot of input from a lot of people! We need volunteers to assist with the planning, preparing, leading, and feeding!
UPDATE (6/20/23): We have 15 slots filled, but there is still room for more folks to donate!
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center needs 1,000 donations every day of the year to serve patients in our community. There is no substitute for blood - your donation saves lives! To help with the substantial need for units of blood in our area, Tree of Life plans to host a blood drive on Sunday, June 25 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Sign up today at CommitForLife.org!

Lent is beginning very soon - Ash Wednesday is February 22!
Tree of Life will once again host an Ash Wednesday "Ashes to Go" event in which church members and members of the general community may come by and receive the imposition of ashes any time between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. We will have an Ash Wednesday service that evening at 7:00 pm.
On the remaining Wednesdays in Lent (March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29), we will have a light "soup supper" from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, with Holden Evening Prayer worship at 7:00 pm.
And yes! We do need volunteers to assist with Ashes to Go, to serve during the Wednesday evening services, and to provide and/or serve the light meals (and clean up after). Please, let us know how you would like to help:
Pastor Chris, Wayne Rambarran, and Pat Rowe have been gone for a week and are making things happen at The King's Embrace in Bungoma, Kenya!
Anyone who would like to keep up with their travels and experiences is welcome to check out the shared album Pastor Chris has created: Kenya 2023 (nothing is easy). See pictures as well as video clips from Pastor, Wayne, and Pat featuring the work they're doing, the town, and most especially the boys and staff of TKE.
Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, and YES! We will have worship on Christmas Day!
We will have a single service - at 10:30 am - on Dec. 25, and it will be in a "Lessons and Carols" format. Spend part of your Christmas morning with the Tree of Life family. We would love to celebrate the birth of Jesus with you! And as always, ALL ARE WELCOME!
